Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant – Chorley

A specialist SEN school in Chorley is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temporary-to-permanent basis, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children with a range of special educational needs in a highly nurturing and well-resourced school environment.

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs, including autism and complex learning difficulties

  • Assisting with classroom activities and adapting learning materials to meet individual needs

  • Supporting students’ social, emotional, and communication development

  • Working closely with teachers and therapists to implement individual learning plans

  • Helping to manage behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN (school-based experience preferred)

  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment

Contract Details:

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Contract Type: Temporary-to-permanent opportunity

  • Location: Specialist SEN school in Chorley
