Job description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a thriving Secondary Alternative Provision based in Blackburn.

Position: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Hours: 8:00am - 3:20pm (with an early finish of 2:30pm on Fridays)
Location: Blackburn
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with challenging behaviours and special educational needs, ensuring they remain engaged in their studies.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and managing classroom activities.
  • Implement strong behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students who need additional help with their learning.
  • Work collaboratively with other educators and support staff to ensure a consistent approach to supporting students.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience of working with children or adults who display challenging behaviours, whether in an educational, care, support, psychology, or personal experience background.
  • Strong behaviour management skills, with the ability to defuse challenging situations and provide clear, positive guidance to students.
  • A proactive, patient, and resilient attitude, with a passion for supporting students who may have faced barriers to learning.
