Learning Support Assistant - Derby - Full Time - Starting ASAP

Do you have experience working within students on a 1:1 basis?
Are you confident in working with children who have learning difficulties?
We are currently recruiting for one of our clients based in the Derby area who are looking to recruit a learning support assistant on a temporary basis to cover a long-term absence starting immediately. The suitable candidate must have recent experience of working with students with a range of SEN, aged 11 - 16 years old.
You will be working with students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Your day will be varied, supporting children in the classroom, and assisting with integrating them back into a school routine after the lockdown period.
You will be required to work with students on a one-to-one basis as well as groups of children. You will be required to support these students both in and out of the classroom and assist them with their needs as well as their academic schoolwork.
What is required from you:
- Teaching assistant qualification, educational based degree or at least 6 months experience working with children
- Experience working with children who display challenging behaviour
- Experienced working with secondary aged pupils from 11 - 16
- Able to hold student attention and focus with excellent communication skills
- Can provide 2 references which can comment on your ability to work with children
- Have a calm, nurturing approach with clear expectations
- Be confident building positive relationships with pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to help them progress both socially and academically
- Must have, or be willing to apply for a Child Workforce Only DBS, which is on the update service
