Job description

Job Title: UASC ESOL Tutor

Location:

London, Barking

Job Duties:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) lessons to Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)
  • Assess students' language skills and create tailored learning plans
  • Provide individual and group tutoring sessions to support language development
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  • Collaborate with other tutors and staff to ensure a supportive learning environment

Required Qualifications:

  • CELTA or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience working with UASC or vulnerable young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Education, English Language, or a related field

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching ESOL to young learners

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of ESOL teaching methodologies and best practises
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by UASC in learning English
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to create engaging and interactive lesson plans

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA in TESOL or Applied Linguistics
  • Experience working with refugees and asylum seekers

Working Conditions:

  • Part-Time hours, flexible schedule
  • Work in a multicultural and diverse educational setting
  • Potential travel to different locations

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
