Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant – SEMH
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and skilled Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant, with a focus on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH), to join a welcoming primary school in Southport (PR8). This long-term role is set to begin in January 2025 and will continue for two terms.
Role Overview
The school is looking for a committed support assistant to provide one-to-one support for a reception pupil who requires academic and social assistance. This role is essential for fostering a positive, nurturing environment to support the pupil’s individual learning journey.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
- Experience with SEMH.
- De-escalation skills: A strong understanding of effective de-escalation techniques.
- Individualised Support: Ability to provide regular updates and progress reports based on tailored education plans, particularly in an SEMH context.
Position Details
- Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:15 PM

- Support and Development: Work closely with the school’s SENCO, who provides ongoing training and support to enhance your skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
