Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a Youth Worker / Behaviour Mentor for a secondary alternative provision in Manchester!
Have you supported young people that sometimes display challenging behaviours?
Have you worked as a Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Residential Support Worker or Teaching Assistant before?
Pay up to GBP75/day.
This a Youth Worker / Behaviour Mentor role that mostly requires pastoral and vocational support for young people in the setting however as this is a secondary alternative education provision there will also be an element of learning and academic support as well.
You will need to act as a positive role model and trusted mentor while setting appropriate boundaries and acting as a authority figure.
You will need to be resilient, empathetic and adaptable. You will be working in small groups of no more than 10 pupils and often conducting 1:1 interventions or pastoral sessions.
It can be challenging at times but the reward is great as you can build strong relationships with smaller groups of young people that in mainstream school and make a real difference to their progress and ultimately their life chances.
The setting caters for young people outside of mainstream education aged 11-16 with multiple sites around the city. They are very supportive and treat agency staff just like their permanent staff. There is a welcoming and supportive atmosphere with staff having excellent relationships with young people.
Due to the nature of their pupils staff are given regular in depth training opportunities to support their practice. Pupils at this site are a mix of ages, abilities and backgrounds. They look after young people with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH), ADHD, autism, Attachment Disorder, ODD and a variety of other needs. Many young people are Looked After Children (LAC), in the care system, and many display either verbal or physical aggression at times. With this in mind the right person will have excellent behaviour management skills, will be able to build rapport with pupils quickly and connect with them on their level using their interests as a means to do this.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
