Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for Year 2 Pupil (Selective Mutism)
Lytham St Annes
Full Time | Monday – Friday
Start Date: As soon as possible

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child in Year 2 who presents with selective mutism, in a welcoming and supportive primary school in Lytham St Annes.

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday during term time, with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's educational journey and emotional development.

The Role:

  • Working 1:1 with a child who experiences selective mutism

  • Supporting the pupil with both academic tasks and emotional regulation

  • Collaborating with the class teacher, SENCo and external professionals

  • Encouraging confidence and communication through a calm, patient approach

  • Using strategies tailored to support selective mutism, following individual support plans

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting children with additional needs, especially communication difficulties

  • Calm, empathetic and nurturing in nature

  • Able to build trust and rapport over time

  • Team player with good communication skills

  • Previous experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant Level 2/3, psychology, or SEN training) are an advantage

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
