Role: Teaching Assistant
Pay: GBP60 per day including holiday pay, National Insurance and Pension Contributions
Area: Llanelli, Carmarthenshire
Start date: 12th April, 2021
Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a welsh speaking general Teaching Assistant to work in a Year 1/2 class in a welsh medium primary school. The school would like to accept a candidate with previous experience assisting in the Foundation Phase, but it is not necessary.
Desirable: Previous Experience with Tric a Chlic
Main responsibilities
- listen to children read
- help children who need extra support to complete tasks
- help teachers to plan learning activities and complete records
- support teachers in managing class behaviour
- supervise group activities
- clear away materials and equipment after lessons
- carry out administrative tasks
The school
The school, situated in Carmarthenshire, is a dual stream primary school for pupils aged 3-11. There are six English-medium and four Welsh-medium mainstream classes, with mixed age groups in most of the classes. There are over 250 pupils on roll, with a small percentage coming from Welsh speaking backgrounds. At present 15 pupils receive support in English as an additional language and some pupils are looked after by the local authority. Attached to the school is a special educational needs centre, which comprises of two Foundation Phase assessment and observation classes, a language unit and a key stage 2 class for pupils with severe learning difficulties.
Minimum requirements
To be considered for the post, you will need to ensure that you:
- owns a 'CHILD ONLY' DBS;
- registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC);
- can provide details for two professional references;
- To communicate confidently through the medium of Welsh

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
