Maths Intervention Specialist – Full-Time Role in Denton, Tameside
Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Maths Intervention Specialist to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton, Tameside. This full-time role begins in December and extends through the academic year, with the opportunity for a permanent position based on performance. Weekly pay is between £419.25 and £500.
Role Overview:
In this role, you will play a key part in raising student attainment in maths by providing focused support to those needing additional guidance. Working closely with the school’s Maths Department, you’ll deliver targeted interventions aimed at improving comprehension, boosting confidence, and helping students achieve their potential in core mathematics topics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Tailored Maths Interventions: Offer small group and one-on-one support sessions focused on fundamental and advanced maths topics, adapting to individual learning needs.
- Collaborate with the Maths Department: Work alongside teachers to align intervention sessions with curriculum goals and develop strategies to enhance students’ grasp of essential mathematical concepts.
- Monitor Student Progress: Conduct ongoing assessments to gauge each student’s understanding, adjusting methods to reinforce learning where necessary.
- Prepare for Examinations: Support students in preparing for exams by reviewing core material, enhancing problem-solving techniques, and practicing time management for test scenarios.
- Develop Engaging Resources: Create customised teaching aids to clarify difficult concepts, ensuring students are engaged and motivated to improve.
- Maintain a Positive Learning Environment: Encourage a supportive and focused atmosphere that motivates students, helping them build confidence in their abilities.
- Classroom Assistance: Support the Maths Department during lessons as needed to maintain an effective learning environment for all students.
- Progress Communication: Provide regular updates to teachers and parents on individual achievements, challenges, and goals.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Mathematics Specialisation: A degree in mathematics or a related field is required.
- Previous Tutoring or Intervention Experience: Experience in supporting students with maths learning is highly desirable.
- Effective Communication: Ability to simplify complex mathematical concepts and adapt explanations to suit different learning styles.
- Organised and Focused: Skilled in planning and delivering structured sessions, managing time effectively to maximise learning outcomes.
- Collaborative: A proactive team player who works well with teaching staff to deliver a cohesive learning experience.
