Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position in Denton, Tameside

Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant for an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton, Tameside. This full-time position starts in December and runs through the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance. Weekly pay is between £419.25 and £500.

Role Overview:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a supportive role across various subjects, helping to inspire and guide students in their learning journey. This is an ideal position for a recent graduate who is interested in education, enjoys working with young people, and is eager to gain hands-on experience in a school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers in delivering lessons, ensuring all students are engaged and supported. This includes helping with lesson preparation, providing individualised attention to students, and assisting with classroom management.
  • Small Group and One-on-One Interventions: Work with small groups or individual students who may need extra help in understanding key concepts across a variety of subjects, adapting your approach to suit their individual learning styles.
  • Exam Preparation and Revision Support: Aid students in preparing for assessments, helping to review material, organise study plans, and build confidence ahead of exams.
  • Learning Resource Development: Assist in creating and organising learning resources, including worksheets, visual aids, and other tools that make lessons more interactive and accessible.
  • Progress Tracking and Feedback: Observe and monitor students’ progress, providing teachers with feedback and identifying areas where additional support may be needed.
  • Fostering a Positive Learning Environment: Encourage students to take an active role in their education, reinforcing their confidence and helping to maintain an inclusive, respectful classroom environment.
  • Supervision: Supervise students during break times, school activities, and in the classroom, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Degree Holder: A recent graduate in any subject area, with a strong academic background.
  • Interest in Education: A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and supporting young people in their educational journey.
  • Effective Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect well with students and staff.
  • Adaptable and Resourceful: Able to think on your feet and adapt to the dynamic environment of a busy secondary school.
  • Organised and Proactive: Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage tasks and support students efficiently.
  • Team Player: A cooperative, supportive approach to working with other teaching staff, keen to contribute positively to the school community.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: Dedicated to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all students.

  • Start Date: December
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
  • Contract: Temporary for the academic year, with a possibility of becoming permanent depending on performance.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
