An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a fast-improving, expanding all-through Foundation Special School in Oxford. The school caters to a diverse cohort of pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. The school is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Primary Teacher to join their team from January 2025. This role is ideal for a passionate educator who is eager to contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEN.
- Develop and implement tailored Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other staff and parents/carers.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to promote the learning and personal development of all pupils.
- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, including teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate and comprehensive records.
- Foster strong, positive relationships with pupils, families, and the wider school community.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly in a primary setting.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and experience in creating and delivering IEPs.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to teaching.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for inclusive education.
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one).
Desirable
- Additional qualifications or training in SEN (e.g., Autism, Speech and Language, or Behavioural Needs).
- Experience using assistive technologies or alternative communication systems (e.g., Makaton, PECS).
- Knowledge of sensory integration techniques or therapeutic interventions.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
