Teaching Assistant (Permanent Role)

A dynamic and rapidly growing all-through Foundation Special School in Oxford is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their permanent staff team starting January 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a thriving school that is committed to providing exceptional education and support for pupils with diverse needs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across a range of ages and abilities. Working closely with teachers, you will help create a positive and inclusive environment where every student is empowered to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support individual and group learning in the classroom.
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Foster students' social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Encourage independence and confidence in learning.
  • Provide care and supervision as required.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN, is desirable.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; a calm, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • Qualifications: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above). A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare, education, or SEN support is advantageous.
  • Commitment: A genuine passion for supporting the education and development of pupils with SEN.
