The school is dedicated to nurturing and empowering children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing them with a tailored and supportive environment to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The school is seeking an experienced SEN Primary Teacher to join their dynamic and compassionate team on a permanent basis from January 2025. This is an exciting chance to contribute meaningfully to the development of pupils and be part of a close-knit, forward-thinking school community.
Role Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SEN, primarily at the primary level.
- Plan and implement creative, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences.
- Foster a positive and nurturing classroom environment that supports emotional and social development.
- Work collaboratively with the wider staff team, families, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
- Regularly assess and monitor pupil achievement, adapting teaching strategies to meet targets outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Promote independence, self-esteem, and confidence in pupils.
Essential Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Have demonstrable experience teaching children with SEN, particularly in a primary school setting.
- Possess strong knowledge of SEND best practices and strategies, including an understanding of autism, ADHD, and other specific learning needs.
- Be skilled at managing a diverse range of abilities and adapting to different learning styles.
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.
- Demonstrate a proactive and reflective approach to teaching and learning.
- Have the ability to maintain patience, resilience, and empathy in challenging situations.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in a special school setting.
- Additional SEN-specific training or qualifications (e.g., Makaton, PECS, or Team Teach).
- Familiarity with using assistive technology or resources to enhance learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
