The school is seeking an experienced SEN Primary Teacher to join their dynamic and compassionate team on a permanent basis from January 2025. This is an exciting chance to contribute meaningfully to the development of pupils and be part of a close-knit, forward-thinking school community.

Role Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SEN, primarily at the primary level.
• Plan and implement creative, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences.
• Foster a positive and nurturing classroom environment that supports emotional and social development.
• Work collaboratively with the wider staff team, families, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
• Regularly assess and monitor pupil achievement, adapting teaching strategies to meet targets outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Promote independence, self-esteem, and confidence in pupils.

Essential Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Have demonstrable experience teaching children with SEN, particularly in a primary school setting.
• Possess strong knowledge of SEND best practices and strategies, including an understanding of autism, ADHD, and other specific learning needs.
• Be skilled at managing a diverse range of abilities and adapting to different learning styles.
• Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.
• Demonstrate a proactive and reflective approach to teaching and learning.
• Have the ability to maintain patience, resilience, and empathy in challenging situations.

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience in a special school setting.
• Additional SEN-specific training or qualifications (e.g., Makaton, PECS, or Team Teach).
• Familiarity with using assistive technology or resources to enhance learning.
