An ambitious and rapidly improving small foundation special school in Oxford is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Maths Teacher to join its team of permanent staff. Role Overview
The successful candidate will lead engaging and differentiated Maths lessons, catering to students with a variety of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties. They will collaborate with a passionate team of educators and support staff to create an inclusive and positive learning experience, ensuring that every student reaches their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, accessible Maths lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to engage students with diverse abilities and SEN profiles.
- Work closely with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to develop and implement effective Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Monitor and report on student progress, adapting approaches to meet each learner’s needs.
- Create a safe, stimulating, and supportive classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being in line with the school’s ethos.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven experience working with children and young people with SEN.
- A strong understanding of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties.
- Passion for Maths and the ability to make the subject accessible and engaging for all learners.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to teaching.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
- SEN-specific qualifications, such as the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO).
- Experience working in a special school or specialist setting.
- Knowledge of augmentative communication systems or sensory support techniques.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
