School Nurse

Pay Rate: Band 5
Location: Edgbaston, Birmingham
Start Date: September 2025
About the Role:
Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse (band 5) to join the supportive and dedicated team at our partnered secondary school. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting the health and well-being of our students and ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met within the school environment. You will be the first point of contact for students, staff, and parents regarding medical matters, and you will work closely with the wider school community to ensure a safe and healthy school experience for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health Support: Provide high-quality healthcare and support for students, including administering first aid, managing chronic conditions, and handling medical emergencies.
- Medical Records Management: Keep accurate, up-to-date records of student health care plans, treatments, and medical histories in compliance with confidentiality and safeguarding requirements.
- Medication Management: Oversee the administration of prescribed medications, ensuring proper documentation and communication with parents and staff.
- Safeguarding: Work with the designated safeguarding lead to ensure the well-being and safety of students, especially those with specific health needs.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, school leaders, and outside agencies to support students with specific health requirements, including SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) students.
- Emergency Procedures: Be prepared to respond to any medical emergencies and manage health-related incidents in line with the school’s policies and procedures.
Key Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RGN/RSCN) with a valid nursing qualification and current NMC registration.
- Experience: Proven experience as a school nurse, or in a similar healthcare role, preferably within a school setting.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of first aid, safeguarding procedures, and health regulations in an educational context.
- Commitment: A genuine passion for supporting the health and well-being of young people and an understanding of the challenges they may face.
- Desirable: Additional qualifications in child health or mental health would be an advantage, but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
