Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is recruiting a motivated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated “Good” secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time role starting in December and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent position based on performance. The weekly pay ranges from £419.25 to £500.
Role Overview:
In this role, you’ll provide targeted academic and pastoral support to students, utilizing your understanding of psychology to assist with behavioral, social, and emotional learning. Working closely with teachers and the SENCO, you will contribute to a supportive learning environment, helping students engage effectively and succeed both in and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- One-to-One and Group Support: Offer tailored support to students, whether individually or in small groups, to help address learning challenges, social skills, and emotional well-being.
- Behavioral and Emotional Assistance: Use psychology principles to help students manage behavioral issues, build emotional regulation skills, and develop resilience.
- Classroom Integration: Assist in the classroom environment, encouraging students to participate actively and supporting them with any difficulties they encounter in lessons.
- Intervention Sessions: Plan and conduct intervention sessions focusing on social skills, emotional literacy, and confidence-building activities for students with specific needs.
- Progress Tracking and Reporting: Monitor students’ progress, keep detailed records, and communicate observations to the SENCO and teachers to aid in developing individualized learning and behavior plans.
- Resource Preparation: Create or adapt learning materials to make content accessible and engaging for students with diverse needs, ensuring inclusivity in every learning experience.
- Encouragement and Positive Reinforcement: Build strong, positive relationships with students to foster their confidence and motivation, celebrating each milestone and achievement.
- Safeguarding and Wellbeing: Adhere to safeguarding policies and prioritize student welfare, addressing any concerns following school protocols to ensure a safe learning environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Psychology Graduate: A recent graduate in psychology, with a keen interest in applying psychological knowledge in an educational setting.
- Empathetic and Patient: Exhibits empathy and patience, supporting students through their challenges with understanding and positivity.
- Strong Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents, and clearly convey progress and needs.
- Observant and Detail-Oriented: Keeps thorough records, monitors changes in student behavior, and adapts support strategies as needed.
- Team-Oriented: Works well within a collaborative school environment, supporting teachers and SEN staff to enhance the overall student experience.
- Safeguarding Knowledge: Understanding of safeguarding and student welfare practices, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful school environment.

- Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
