Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant for an Ofsted-rated “Good” secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position is set to begin in December and will continue through the academic year, with potential for a permanent placement based on performance. Weekly pay ranges from £419.25 to £500.

Role Overview:

As a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in enhancing students' engagement and comprehension across History, Geography, Religious Studies, and Social Sciences. Collaborating closely with classroom teachers and the wider support staff, you will provide individualized support to help students overcome challenges and reach their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • One-to-One and Small Group Support: Assist students in understanding complex humanities concepts by providing tailored support during lessons and designated study sessions.
  • Classroom Assistance: Support the teacher in delivering engaging lessons, preparing learning materials, and assisting with classroom management to create a productive learning environment.
  • Academic Intervention: Conduct targeted intervention sessions to improve students' understanding in specific areas, such as historical analysis, geographical skills, or essay writing.
  • Resource Preparation: Develop and modify learning materials, ensuring accessibility for students with diverse needs and learning styles.
  • Progress Monitoring and Feedback: Track student progress, keep detailed records, and communicate key observations to teachers and pastoral staff, contributing to tailored learning plans.
  • Fostering Engagement: Encourage student participation and interest in humanities, making connections to real-world events and fostering critical thinking.
  • Support for SEN Students: Work closely with the SEN team to assist students with special educational needs, adapting materials and strategies to help them succeed in humanities subjects.
  • Positive Reinforcement: Build rapport with students, helping them feel confident in their abilities and motivated to learn.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Humanities Graduate: Holds a degree in a humanities-related field, such as History, Geography, Sociology, or Religious Studies, and is enthusiastic about inspiring a love for these subjects.
  • Strong Communicator: Effectively communicates complex ideas and adapts explanations to meet students' needs and levels of understanding.
  • Empathetic and Patient: Has a supportive and understanding approach, particularly when helping students who may find the material challenging.
  • Organized and Detail-Oriented: Able to keep thorough records of student progress and prepare engaging and relevant lesson materials.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Works well with other staff members, supporting teachers and collaborating with SEN staff to enhance student learning.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: Understands safeguarding responsibilities and is committed to creating a safe and respectful environment for all students.

Position Details:

  • Start Date: December
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
  • Contract: Temporary through the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent role based on performance.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
