Future Teachers Programme – Graduate Internship for Aspiring Secondary Teachers

Are you a recent graduate considering a rewarding career in secondary education? Teaching Personnel’s Future Teachers Graduate Scheme is a specialized internship designed to support graduates as they explore the path toward becoming qualified secondary teachers.

Why Join the Future Teachers Programme?

This unique, 24-month school-based internship provides hands-on experience, allowing you to work as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school before embarking on formal teacher training. During your placement, you’ll engage directly with students, develop your teaching skills, and gain the foundational experience needed for a successful transition to a PGCE or Initial Teacher Training (ITT) program.

Programme Details:

  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Location: Greater Manchester region (Manchester, Stockport, Salford, Trafford, Bury, Bolton, Rochdale, and Oldham)
  • Eligible Graduates: Those with degrees in English, Maths, Science, Humanities, or Languages who aim to pursue secondary education careers

How Does It Work?

As a Future Teacher, you’ll support students in your subject area by:

  • Assisting with lesson planning and classroom management
  • Conducting small group sessions and one-on-one support
  • Covering classes and helping to elevate student achievement
  • Working closely with teachers to foster a positive learning environment

This immersive experience will prepare you for the challenges and rewards of a teaching career while enhancing your subject expertise.

  • Monthly Stipend: £1500-£1700 during the first year, transitioning to a £25,000 salary in your second training year

  • Degree completion by August 2025
  • Strong interest in secondary education and commitment to the full-time internship from September 2025 to July 2026 (Monday – Friday, 8:15am – 3:00pm)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
