Behaviour Mentor – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join an Ofsted-rated “Good” secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time role begins in December and extends to the end of the academic year, with potential for a permanent position based on performance. The weekly pay for this role is £419.25 - £500.
Role Overview:
The Behaviour Mentor will play a crucial role in supporting students with behavioral, emotional, and social challenges, helping them integrate positively into the school environment. By building strong relationships and offering consistent support, you will empower students to develop self-discipline, improve decision-making skills, and enhance their academic engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- One-to-One Support: Work with students on a one-on-one basis, providing guidance and practical strategies to help them manage challenging behaviors and build positive habits.
- Small Group Sessions: Lead small group activities to reinforce positive social skills, emotional regulation, and cooperation, fostering a supportive environment for personal growth.
- Behavioral Strategy Implementation: Develop and implement individualized behavioral strategies, collaborating with teachers, support staff, and SENCO to ensure consistent approaches and monitor progress.
- Classroom Assistance: Support students within the classroom setting to reinforce behavior expectations and promote a positive learning environment. Encourage students to participate actively and keep focused on tasks.
- Crisis Intervention: Act swiftly and calmly during crisis situations, following school protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students involved.
- Goal Setting and Progress Tracking: Work with students to set behavior-related goals, providing regular feedback and celebrating progress. Document outcomes and share updates with the team to adjust approaches as needed.
- Parental and Guardian Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents or guardians to update them on student progress and involve them in behavior strategies, creating a unified support network.
- Mentorship and Positive Role Modeling: Be a strong role model, demonstrating respect, resilience, and effective communication skills to students. Help foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to view challenges as opportunities for learning.
- Safeguarding and Wellbeing: Prioritize the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students, adhering to school safeguarding protocols and addressing concerns proactively.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience in Behavior Support: Prior experience in a similar role or working with young people with behavioral challenges is highly valued.
- Strong Communication Skills: Able to connect effectively with students, staff, and parents, explaining behavior strategies in a way that is clear, supportive, and constructive.
- Empathetic and Patient: Displays patience, empathy, and understanding, even in challenging situations, creating a supportive and non-judgmental space for students.
- Organized and Observant: Skilled in documenting behavior patterns, setting structured behavior plans, and observing changes or improvements in student behavior.
- Resilient and Calm Under Pressure: Able to remain composed and proactive during crisis situations, ensuring student safety and maintaining a calm environment.
- Team Player: Works collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other school staff to ensure a consistent, whole-school approach to behavior management.
- Safeguarding Knowledge: Understands and applies safeguarding practices to promote the welfare of all students in their care.
Position Details:
- Start Date: December
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
- Contract: Temporary until the end of the academic year, with potential for a permanent position based on performance.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
