Job description

2x Teaching Assistant Level 2 required withina a reputable mainstream Primary School

Catholic Primary School in Preston

‘Challenging’ catchment area which requires strong behaviour management

Level 2 Teaching Assistant award or above qualification is required

I am currently seeking two Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistants to work within a Catholic Primary School in Preston. The School is located ten minutes from the town centre and commutable by car and bus. The Head teacher is keen to promote the Catholic faith in school and so you must be able to support this with confidence and with the correct subject knowledge, however you don’t have to be a practising Catholic to undertake the roles. The roles will be to start in January 2025 and run until July 2025 on a supply basis. From the success of using Teaching Personnel to recruit 2 members of staff this academic year, the Head Teacher is keen to shortlist, interview & appoint the teaching assistants through Teaching Personnel, to then conduct a handover period, if they a ‘the correct fit’ for school.

One role will be working in the Year 1 class with a very experienced Teacher. The other role will be working alongside a recently qualified Teacher who is due to become fully qualified after successfully completing her second ECT year.

The working hours will be 8:45 - 15:30 with ½ hour welfare cover. The school is currently graded as GOOD by Ofsted and also holds a GOOD RE inspection. The Head teacher has implemented a strong and consistent behaviour policy which the children respond to really well. It is therefore important that if you are successful, that you are able to fit into the team and implement the policy effectively.

In the past, the school have used Teaching Personnel and taken staff on to permanent contracts. This could be an excellent opportunity which could lead to a full time contract. This won’t come without the right attitude in school though. You must be enthusiastic and passionate about raising standards in school and be able to build strong working relationships with children, staff and parents. As the school falls in a socially deprived area of Burnley, you will need to be able to liaise with a variety of individuals, some who may be aggressive!

If you are interested then please do not hesitate to contact me apply with your most recent CV!

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
