Learning Support Assistant – Key Stage 2 (PRU) – Full-Time – Liverpool

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children who need extra support? A Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Liverpool is seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support Key Stage 2 pupils on a full-time basis.

About the Role

This is a challenging yet rewarding role, ideal for someone who is patient, understanding, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with children who may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education. The successful candidate will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils engage with learning.
  • Assist in managing behaviour and implementing de-escalation strategies where necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to create a structured and supportive environment.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
  • Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience, and self-esteem.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of each child.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with children with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, or other additional needs (experience in a PRU or alternative provision is desirable but not essential).
✔ Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
✔ A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with young learners.
✔ The ability to build positive relationships and encourage children to engage in their education.
✔ A proactive and flexible attitude, adapting to different challenges as they arise.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
