Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with autism? We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team as a classroom-based Autism Support Specialist.
The successful candidate will work closely with students to provide tailored support that meets their unique needs, helping them thrive in a nurturing educational environment. This full-time role is based in Liverpool, offering the opportunity to create a positive impact within a supportive and collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support to students with autism, helping them engage with classroom activities.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt lesson plans and resources to meet individual learning needs.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment to encourage students' social, emotional, and academic growth.
- Use effective communication strategies to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Monitor and record students’ progress, sharing observations with the teaching team and parents/carers as needed.
Qualities and Skills:
We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following qualities:
- Experience: Demonstrable experience working with children with autism, ideally in a classroom setting.
- Empathy: A caring and patient approach, with the ability to understand and respond to students’ individual needs.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Adaptability: Flexible and resourceful, able to adjust support strategies to suit diverse situations and challenges.
- Resilience: A calm and composed demeanor, capable of managing challenging situations with professionalism.
- Commitment: Passionate about supporting students with autism to reach their full potential.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications or training in supporting children with autism or special educational needs.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum conditions and effective support strategies.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
