A school in Stockport is seeking a Head of History to join the teaching team for the new academic year in September. In order to be considered for this position, the following is required:
- QTS.
- A proven track record in delivering high quality History lessons.
- The ability to successfully lead the department, striving to ensure that students obtain a positive learning experience.
The school requires a dynamic and highly motivated individual to undertake this position. The applicant will have the opportunity to devise schemes of work, whilst also working closely with the SEN department to ensure work is being effectively differentiated to meet individual needs.
- Key highlights of this position include:
- Taking on full leadership and management of the department.
- Appointing new staff, providing detailed feedback to senior leaders when called upon.
- Ensuring students are set realistic goals, both in the short and long term.
- Providing strategic planning to the department.
- Working to targets set by SLT, looking to improve students attainment grades year on year.
There will also be a heavy pastoral element involved within this position. Given that this is the case, the required individual will need to be confident both in managing behaviour as well as managing potentially tricky scenarios. Being able to remain calm and collected when dealing with these is essential.
The school is located in Stockport, a short distance from Manchester city centre.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
