We are a dedicated SEN secondary school in Bolton, committed to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Level 3 Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our expert team and play a pivotal role in supporting the learning and development of our students with a range of SEN needs.

Your Role as a HLTA in Our SEN School:

As a Level 3 HLTA, you will be a key figure in our school community, taking on teaching responsibilities in the absence of the class teacher and providing vital support to students with complex learning and behavioural needs. You will play a crucial role in ensuring students receive the care, attention, and personalised support they need to succeed. Key responsibilities include:

  • Targeted Interventions: Delivering one-on-one and small group interventions tailored to meet the individual needs of students with SEN, including autism, ADHD, sensory impairments, and other complex needs.
  • Positive Behaviour Support: Promoting and implementing strategies that foster positive behaviour, ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all.
  • Taking on Teaching Responsibilities: Leading lessons and supporting classroom activities when the teacher is absent, ensuring students continue to make progress with their academic work.
  • Progress Monitoring: Observing, assessing, and tracking student progress, sharing regular feedback with teachers, parents, and carers to ensure students are fully supported in their learning journey.

About You:

  • SEN Experience: You have experience working with children or young people, particularly in a secondary school setting. Experience with conditions such as autism, ADHD, and communication needs is highly desirable.
  • Key Attributes: You are patient, empathetic, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with additional needs. You are adaptable, creative, and committed to inclusive education practices.
  • Safeguarding Commitment: A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children is essential, as is the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.

What We Offer:

  • Specialist SEN Environment: Be part of a supportive, experienced team in a specialist SEN school, where your skills and contributions are highly valued.
  • Meaningful Impact: Experience the profound satisfaction of making a lasting difference in the lives of young people with diverse and complex needs.
  • Ongoing Development: Opportunities for professional growth and development, with training and support to help you succeed in your role.
