Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a Child with Autism
Location: M44 Irlam
Contract Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

We are a specialist SEN primary school with small class sizes, and we are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide personalised care and educational support.

Our school is dedicated to offering a tailored and inclusive educational experience for children with special educational needs.

With small classes and a focus on individualised support, we ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed. 

  • 1:1 Support: Provide individualised assistance to help a student with autism engage in learning and daily activities.
  • Personal Care: Be prepared to assist with personal care needs, ensuring the student’s well-being and comfort.
  • Specialised Learning: Implement and adapt educational plans tailored to the specific needs of the student.
  • Alternative Communication: Support the student using various communication methods, such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) or Makaton, to enhance their ability to express themselves.
  • Hands-On Experience: Gain valuable experience working closely with students, addressing both their educational and social needs.
  • Collaboration: Work with a team of teachers, specialists, and families to provide a holistic, supportive approach to the student's development.
  • Inclusion: Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment where students feel valued, respected, and motivated to learn.

  • Compassionate and Dedicated: A genuine passion for working with children with autism and complex needs.
  • Flexible and Adaptable: Ability to adjust to the needs of individual students, using alternative communication methods to support engagement.
  • Team Player: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working closely with teaching staff, specialists, and parents.
  • Experience or Eagerness to Learn: Prior experience in SEN or healthcare is helpful, but we also welcome candidates eager to apply transferable skills and grow in this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
