Psychology Graduate Role:  Special Needs Classroom Support in Bolton – Ideal for Aspiring Educational Psychologists

Are you a recent psychology graduate eager to specialise in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and gain invaluable experience? Teaching Personnel, in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Bolton, is offering an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team as a Graduate Special Needs Classroom Support. This role is perfect for those looking to build a solid foundation for further study and careers in educational psychology or related fields.

What You’ll Do:

  • Specialised Support: Work closely with students with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). Support their academic, social, and emotional development, adapting your approach to meet their unique needs.
  • Personal Care and Challenging Behaviour: Assist with personal care and manage challenging behaviours that may arise due to students' different perspectives of the world. Employ positive behaviour strategies to help create a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Sensory Needs and Alternative Communication: Address sensory needs and support the use of alternative communication devices, such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and other assistive technologies. Your role will involve using these tools to facilitate effective communication and learning.

About You:

  • Eligibility: All candidates must have the right to work in the UK and be currently based in Manchester.
  • Educational Requirements: A minimum of 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths, is required.
  • Psychology Background: A recent psychology graduate or someone with relevant experience. Previous experience working with children is essential, while experience with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Key Attributes: You should be empathetic, patient, and committed to understanding and supporting children with diverse SEN needs. A genuine interest in the unique challenges these students face is crucial.
  • Safeguarding Commitment: A strong dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students is necessary.
