Position: 1:1 SEN Support Assistant
Location: MediaCity, Salford
Contract Type: Full-Time

Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs (SEN)? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated 1:1 Support Assistant to work in a Further Education College in MediaCity, Salford. In this role, you will provide tailored support to an individual student, helping them thrive both academically and personally.
About the Role:
As a 1:1 Support Assistant, you will work closely with a student who requires additional help due to their specific needs. This could include learning difficulties, physical disabilities, or emotional and behavioural challenges. Your support will play a crucial role in helping them access their education, build confidence, and develop independence in a vibrant college environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1:1 Student Support: Provide individualised assistance to the student, helping them engage with coursework, manage their time, and stay on track with their studies.
- Adapted Learning: Implement strategies tailored to the student’s specific needs, whether they relate to physical, emotional, or academic challenges.
- Emotional and Social Support: Offer encouragement and guidance, helping the student build confidence and navigate social situations in the college setting.
- Collaboration: Work closely with college staff, SEN coordinators, and external professionals to ensure the student’s learning plan is effectively delivered.
- Promoting Independence: Support the student in developing skills that will help them achieve greater independence both in and out of the classroom.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in SEN Support: Previous experience working with students with SEN, either in education, healthcare, or social care settings.
- Empathetic and Patient: A caring and patient approach to supporting students with a range of needs, helping them overcome challenges.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to work effectively with both the student and college staff, ensuring the student receives the support they need to succeed.
- Flexible and Adaptable: Willingness to adapt your approach based on the student’s evolving needs, helping them stay engaged and motivated.
- Further Education Experience (desirable but not essential): Experience working in a college or further education setting is beneficial, but we welcome applicants with experience from other educational contexts.
