1:1 Teaching Assistant ASD/Autism

Location: Irlam, M44

About Us: We are a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) primary school located in Irlam, committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for all our students. We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 student with non-verbal autism.

Role Overview: As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our student’s learning and development. You will work closely with the student to implement their Individual Education Plan (IEP), using PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) to facilitate communication and enhance their learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to the student throughout the school day.
  • Assist with the use of PECS to promote effective communication.
  • Foster a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to implement educational strategies.
  • Monitor and record the student’s progress and behavior.
  • Encourage social interaction and independence in a variety of settings.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children with autism or other SEN is desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting learners.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
