The Alternative Provision School in Liverpool is a nurturing and inclusive environment dedicated to supporting children who have faced challenges in mainstream education. Each of our students has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) and requires tailored support to help them succeed. They offer a safe space where every child is valued and empowered to reach their potential through a personalized curriculum that meets their unique needs.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children who require extra support due to special educational needs. You will play a key role in helping our students thrive by providing one-on-one and group assistance, adapting learning materials, and fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, ensuring they engage with and benefit from their tailored curriculum.
- Assist in the development and implementation of personalized learning plans in accordance with each student's EHCP.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where students feel supported and valued.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to monitor student progress and adapt strategies to meet evolving needs.
- Support students in developing essential life skills, promoting independence, confidence, and resilience.
- Address behavioral challenges with empathy and understanding, helping students develop appropriate social and emotional skills.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and external professionals to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies for success.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in an alternative provision or SEN setting.
- A deep understanding of the challenges faced by students who have struggled in mainstream schools.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs (desirable).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
