Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision School (Liverpool)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join an alternative provision school based in Liverpool. This full-time role is perfect for someone with a passion for supporting students with additional needs and the skills to foster meaningful connections.

The school caters to students who have faced challenges in mainstream education and require a tailored, nurturing approach to help them thrive. The ideal candidate will possess SEN and SEMH expertise, adopt a trauma-informed approach, and demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships that break down barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students in their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Helping pupils engage positively with learning by providing encouragement and reassurance.
  • Assisting in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Using proactive behavior management strategies to address challenges effectively.
  • Building trust and rapport with students to help them overcome obstacles to their education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working in Alternative Provision (AP) or Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) settings is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of SEN, SEMH, and trauma-informed practices.
  • A reliable, approachable, and empathetic individual who is passionate about making a difference.
  • Proven ability to connect with students and inspire them to reach their potential.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with the capacity to manage challenging situations calmly and constructively.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
