“That light going on moment when a learner gets it”
What Teachers Love About Teaching
Last week we celebrated World Teacher's Day by asking our followers on social media what they loved about teaching. Unsurprisingly perhaps, holidays featured quite highly. However, we were touched by the range of comments our followers gave as to why they still love teaching. Here is a selection of our favourites:
- “Guiding them to their goals in life” – Josephine
- “Inspirational career helping and extending pupils to see what they could actually achieve in their life!” – Roger
- “Nurturing children's interest in learning” – She
- “Seeing a child progress in their learning and yes six weeks holiday in summer although teachers do work during this time it's a break from the kids.” – Pauline
- “That light-going-on moment when a learner gets it” – Edward
- “Inspiring the next generation.” – Ann
- “Inspiring children to be interested in the world around them, to have concern for the life around them and to care for all fellow students and family members, neighbours and friends.” – Jean W.
- “Just being there for the children is enough to make this rewarding. But when you see them progress, they make you so proud” – Susan M.
- “Meeting past pupils who were not academically minded whilst at school, but who as adults have achieved success and fulfilment in their chosen careers.” – Susan C.
- “Choosing the same profession as my wife, who is also a teacher. Subsequently, we both have all the school holidays together.” – Grant
- “That feeling when the students say thank you.” – Philip
- “The kids and families.” – Reginald
- “Having a captive audience!” – Charles
