SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position starting in January and running until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become a permanent role based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay rate of £419.25 - £500.
About the Role
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs (SEN). You will work closely with students, teachers, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Individual Support: Provide one-to-one support to students with SEN, tailoring your approach to meet their unique learning and developmental needs.
- Group Work: Assist small groups of students, delivering targeted interventions to support their academic progress and social skills.
- Collaboration with Teachers: Work closely with classroom teachers to adapt lesson plans and resources to ensure they are accessible for all learners.
- Classroom Assistance: Support students in accessing the curriculum, helping them to engage with learning activities and stay on task.
- Behaviour Management: Use positive behaviour strategies to support students in developing self-regulation and engagement in the classroom.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and document students’ progress, sharing insights with teachers, SENCOs, and parents/carers to inform next steps.
- Emotional Support: Build trusting relationships with students, providing a safe and supportive space for them to express themselves and develop confidence.
- Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, adhering to the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience with SEN: Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, whether in a school, care, or community setting.
- Adaptability and Initiative: A flexible approach to meeting students’ diverse needs, combined with the ability to think on your feet.
- Empathy and Patience: A caring and understanding attitude, with a commitment to supporting students facing challenges.
- Collaboration Skills: The ability to work effectively as part of a team, building positive relationships with staff, students, and families.
- Desirable Qualifications: While not essential, qualifications or training in areas such as SEN support, child development, or teaching assistance are highly valued.
