1-2-1 Teaching Assistant - Challenging Behaviour 

Primary School

Location - Crawley 

Full time - 8:30am - 3:30pm

Pay rate - £12.90ph

Start date - January 2025

Are you a passionate individual who enjoys working with children if so we would love to hear from you.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work on a 1-2-1 basis with a student who presents challenging behaviour in a mainstream class at a Primary School based in Crawley.

This Primary school values the abilities and achievements of all its pupils, and is committed to providing, for each pupil, the best possible environment for learning, no matter what their needs are. This school has due regard for the Additional Learning Needs Code of Practice when carrying out our duties towards all pupils with additional learning and educational needs, and ensure that parents are notified when ALN provision is being made for their child.

This role is based in Crawley and is a full time role, Monday to Friday (8:30-15:30) with an ideal start date of as soon as possible.

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised academic support to the student, tailored to their individual learning style and pace.
  • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively, promoting positive interactions and emotional regulation.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where the student feels valued, respected, and safe.
  • Monitor and track the student's progress, adjusting teaching strategies and interventions as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates on the student's academic and social development, as well as strategies for support at home.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to promote consistency and cohesion in the student's educational experience

The ideal candidate will:

  • Experience building rapport with pupils with ALN  and challenging behaviour on a 1-2-1 basis.
  • Have a positive, energetic & patient mindset
  • Proven experience working with students with challenging behaviour, preferably in a 1-2-1 setting
  • Strong understanding of child development and learning theories.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with diverse student populations
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of each student
