1-2-1 Teaching Assistant – ADHD and Autism Support

Location: Horsham
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
Pay Rate: £12.90 per hour
Start Date: January 2025

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work 1-2-1 with a student presenting challenging behaviour in a mainstream primary school in Horsham. This role requires patience, adaptability, and a deep understanding of neurodiverse needs.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support a student with ADHD and autism on a 1-2-1 basis, using tailored strategies to meet their individual needs.
  • Implement effective behaviour management techniques to encourage positive interactions and emotional regulation.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment where the student feels valued and safe.
  • Track the student’s progress, adapting interventions to ensure consistent academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to provide a cohesive and supportive educational experience.
  • Communicate with parents regularly, offering updates and guidance for continued support at home.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with pupils with ADHD, autism, and challenging behaviour.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of neurodiverse learning strategies and child development.
  • Exhibit a positive, energetic, and patient approach to supporting young learners.
  • Possess excellent communication skills for engaging with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Be adaptable, empathetic, and resilient in supporting students with complex needs.
  • Be confident in managing behaviours in a primary school setting.
