Teaching Assistant (Reception Class – 1:1 SEN Support)

Location: Haywards Heath
Role: Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm
Start Date: January 2025


About the Role

A highly-regarded two-form entry school in Haywards Heath, rated Good by Ofsted, is seeking enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistants to join their reception team. This full-time, temp-to-perm role involves working 1:1 with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing consistent and tailored support to help them thrive in the classroom environment.

Consistency is key, as children with SEN benefit from stable routines and trusted relationships. In this role, you’ll nurture their development, welfare, and independence while collaborating closely with the Nursery Lead to deliver engaging, play-based learning experiences.


What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking candidates who:

  • Have high expectations and are committed to raising the achievement of all children.
  • Have experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in reception or early years, and understand the importance of consistency in their learning environment.
  • Hold a Child Only Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or are willing to obtain one).
  • Can use diverse strategies to effectively engage and support children’s learning.
  • Are skilled at providing stimulating, play-based learning experiences that encourage curiosity and independence.
  • Demonstrate kindness and professionalism, serving as role models for children, colleagues, and parents.
  • Are open-minded and positive, aligned with the school’s ethos, vision, and values.
