Teaching Assistant Opportunity – SEN Support in Reception Class (Crawley)

Location: Crawley
Position: Full-Time, SEN Teaching Assistant (Reception Class)


About the Role:

A warm and inclusive school in Crawley is seeking dedicated SEN-focused teaching assistants to provide 1:1 support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Reception class. This role is essential in fostering the development, well-being, and independence of young learners through play-based learning and tailored support strategies.

You will be a key member of the team, collaborating closely with the Nursery Lead and SENCO to provide meaningful interventions and care for children with diverse needs.


What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking someone who is passionate about SEN support and equipped with the skills to help children overcome barriers to learning:

  • Specialized SEN Experience: Demonstrable experience supporting children with SEN, such as autism, ADHD, speech and language delays, or sensory processing needs.
  • Engagement Skills: Ability to implement creative and adaptive strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • DBS Requirements: A child-only enhanced DBS registered on the update service.
  • High Expectations: Commitment to raising the achievement of children with SEN by fostering an inclusive and positive environment.
  • Role Model: A kind, patient, and supportive professional who exemplifies the school’s ethos and values.
  • Team Collaboration: Able to work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external specialists to ensure the best outcomes for SEN pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 tailored support for children with SEN in the Reception class, focusing on emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with the Nursery Lead and SENCO to design and implement effective strategies for SEN children.
  • Promote independence and confidence through engaging, play-based learning activities.
  • Monitor and record progress, ensuring that interventions meet individual needs and objectives.
