Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Llanelli
Contract Type: Full-Time/Part-Time
Salary: £83.85 daily rate

About Us:
Teaching Personnel partner with a friendly and nurturing primary school in Llanelli that aim to provide an inclusive and supportive environment for all of our pupils. We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our school team. This role is key to supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with SEMH needs.
  • Help create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEMH.
  • Support classroom teachers in delivering engaging lessons, ensuring that students with SEMH can access the curriculum.
  • Foster a positive, nurturing learning environment where children feel safe and supported.
  • Assist with managing behaviour and implementing strategies to improve social and emotional development.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and other staff members to track progress and provide effective interventions.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers to update them on their child’s progress and well-being.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH or similar needs is preferred.
  • Teaching Assistant experience is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with children, staff, and parents.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children with SEMH.
  • Good understanding of child development and strategies for supporting emotional and social well-being.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
  • An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
