KS2 Teacher – SEMH School
Location: The New Forest (Southampton side)
Contract: Full-time, Temporary (minimum one term) or Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Start Date: As soon as possible or September 2024

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and committed KS2 Teacher to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in the New Forest. The school is seeking a qualified teacher with prior experience supporting pupils with additional needs, particularly those who may present challenging behaviours.

About the School

This is a small, well-supported SEMH school with a dedicated team focused on ensuring the best possible outcomes for pupils as they transition into further education or employment at 16. The school benefits from a high staff-to-student ratio, with a significant number of support staff providing both academic and pastoral support to enhance learning.

The Role

  • Teaching a KS2 class within an SEMH setting.
  • Planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons to support both academic progress and emotional development.
  • Working closely with support staff and specialist teams to create a structured and positive learning environment.
  • Supporting pupils in developing their confidence, resilience, and social skills.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Previous experience working with children with additional needs and challenging behaviours.
  • A resilient, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and supporting the personal and academic development of all pupils.

Contract Details

  • The position will initially be through Teaching Personnel.
  • Following a successful probationary period, there will be the opportunity to transition to a permanent contract with the school.
  • The role is suitable for teachers at any stage of their career, though prior experience in an SEMH or specialist setting is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
