Job Advertisement: Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Chorlton. This full-time role begins in January and runs until the end of the academic year, with the opportunity for a permanent position based on performance.

About the Role:
As a Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students to achieve their potential in mathematics. Working closely with teachers and students, you will provide targeted support, helping students develop their understanding of mathematical concepts and build confidence in the subject.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis to enhance their understanding of mathematical topics and skills.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons, ensuring students of all abilities can access the curriculum.
  • Provide additional guidance and intervention for students who may be struggling with key concepts or preparing for exams.
  • Foster a positive attitude towards mathematics, encouraging students to develop their problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, contributing to tailored support plans and interventions.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a focused, respectful learning environment.
  • Support students during non-classroom activities, such as homework clubs or study sessions, to promote continued learning.

What We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a strong background in mathematics, ideally holding a degree in the subject or a related field.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and enthusiasm in students.
  • Be patient, approachable, and adaptable in addressing the diverse needs of learners.
  • Have a passion for education and a desire to support students in achieving their full potential.
  • Be organized, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Be available full-time from January through to the end of the academic year.

Previous experience working with young people or in a similar educational role is advantageous but not essential, as training and support will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
