SEN Teaching Assistant – Stockport

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them achieve their full potential? Teaching Personnel is delighted to partner with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Stockport. We are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team in January 2024.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with students who require additional support and to make a meaningful impact on their academic and personal development.

About the Role:

  • Start Date: January 2024
  • Contract: Full-time (part-time may be considered for the right candidate)
  • Pay Rate: £85–£110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
  • Provide targeted one-to-one and group support for students with diverse learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate lessons and resources, ensuring accessibility for all students.
  • Develop and implement personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies in line with individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Support students in developing essential life skills, fostering independence, and building self-confidence.
  • Contribute to creating a positive and inclusive school culture where every student feels valued and supported.
  • Assist with monitoring students’ progress and provide detailed feedback to the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Offer pastoral support during unstructured times, such as break and lunch, helping students navigate social interactions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in an educational, care, or community setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with complex needs.
  • The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students and encourage positive behaviours.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills to liaise effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies to support SEN students, including sensory integration, visual aids, and behaviour management techniques.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEN is desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
