Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant – South Manchester
Teaching Personnel is excited to offer an opportunity for a compassionate and skilled Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools in the South Manchester area, starting in January 2024. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and want to make a meaningful impact on their educational journey.

- Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only (part-time may be considered for the right candidate)

Key Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will be diverse and rewarding, focusing on providing tailored support to students with special educational needs. Your duties will include:
- One-to-One Support: Working closely with individual students, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
- Small Group Interventions: Delivering targeted support to small groups of students, focusing on key skills such as literacy, numeracy, and social development.
- Collaboration with Staff: Assisting the class teacher and SENCO in planning and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
- Supporting Emotional Well-Being: Building strong, trusting relationships with students, offering emotional support and fostering a positive self-image.
- Promoting Independence: Encouraging students to develop independence and confidence in their abilities both inside and outside the classroom.
- Adapting Resources: Modifying teaching materials and activities to meet the diverse needs of learners, ensuring accessibility for all.
- Monitoring Progress: Observing and reporting on student progress to teachers, parents, and the SENCO.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who:
- Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or physical disabilities.
- Demonstrate a calm, empathetic, and patient approach to working with students who may exhibit challenging behaviors.
- Are proactive, flexible, and able to adapt to different classroom environments.
- Hold relevant qualifications, such as Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a similar qualification (preferred but not essential).
- Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Are passionate about inclusion and dedicated to helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
