Maths Specialist Cover Supervisor – Full-Time Role
Location: Stockport
Contract: Full-time, starting ASAP until the end of the academic year
Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week

Teaching Personnel is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Maths Specialist Cover Supervisor to join a well-regarded secondary school in Stockport. Rated Good by Ofsted, the school is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to support the Maths department and supervise lessons in the absence of regular teaching staff. This role is ideal for Maths graduates or individuals with a strong passion for the subject, who are considering a career in education.

The Role:

As a Maths Specialist Cover Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to supervise Maths lessons, ensuring that students remain on task and engaged with the work provided by the class teacher. You will also manage the classroom environment and behaviour, ensuring that students follow school policies and complete their assignments. While you will not be required to plan or mark work, your role will be essential in supporting the students’ learning experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising Maths lessons, ensuring students follow the pre-prepared lesson plans.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Providing support to students during lessons and encouraging active participation.
  • Reporting lesson progress, engagement, and any incidents to the relevant teaching staff.
  • Occasionally covering lessons in other subjects when required, maintaining a productive learning atmosphere across various topics.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a degree in Maths, Mathematics, or a related subject.
  • Has a strong passion for the subject and a desire to inspire students.
  • Can confidently manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive, focused learning environment.
  • Is adaptable and able to work across different year groups and subjects as needed.
  • Has experience working with young people (in schools, tutoring, mentoring, or other educational settings), although full training will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
