English Graduate Cover Supervisor – Full-Time Role
Location: Stockport
Contract: Full-time, starting ASAP until the end of the academic year
Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week

Teaching Personnel is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an English graduate to join a highly regarded secondary school in Stockport. Rated Good by Ofsted, the school is looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Cover Supervisor, supporting the English department and delivering lessons across a range of subjects. This role is ideal for graduates considering a future in teaching or those looking to gain hands-on experience in a classroom setting.

The Role:

As an English Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising lessons in the absence of the regular class teacher. You will deliver pre-set lesson materials, ensure students remain engaged with their learning, and maintain a positive classroom environment. While you will not be required to plan or mark work, your presence and guidance will be key in supporting students’ education.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising lessons, particularly within the English department, ensuring students remain on task.
  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and encouraging active participation.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in accordance with the school’s policies.
  • Providing support to students with their learning and answering any questions they may have.
  • Reporting lesson progress and any incidents to the relevant teaching staff.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a degree in English, Literature, or a related subject.
  • Has a passion for education and a desire to support young people in their learning.
  • Can confidently manage classroom behaviour and create a productive learning atmosphere.
  • Is adaptable, proactive, and able to work across different year groups and subjects when required.
  • Previous experience working with young people (such as in schools, tutoring, or mentoring) is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
