Humanities Graduate Cover Supervisor – Full-Time Role
Location: Stockport
Contract: Full-time, starting ASAP until the end of the academic year
Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week

Teaching Personnel is offering an exciting opportunity for a Humanities graduate to join a well-regarded secondary school in Stockport. Rated Good by Ofsted, the school is looking for a confident and motivated individual to take on the role of Cover Supervisor, supporting the Humanities department and covering lessons across a range of subjects. This is an ideal position for those considering a future in teaching or looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

The Role:

As a Humanities Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining the continuity of learning in the absence of the regular class teacher. You will deliver pre-prepared lesson materials, ensure students remain engaged, and manage classroom behaviour effectively. While you will not be required to plan or mark work, your role will be crucial in maintaining a positive and structured learning environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising lessons across the Humanities department (such as History, Geography, and Religious Studies), ensuring students follow the work set by the teacher.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in accordance with the school’s policies.
  • Encouraging student participation and engagement in lessons.
  • Providing support to students where necessary, addressing questions, and promoting a productive learning environment.
  • Reporting lesson progress and any incidents to relevant teaching staff.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a degree in a Humanities-related subject (such as History, Geography, or Religious Studies).
  • Has a passion for education and supporting young people in their learning.
  • Can confidently manage classroom behaviour and encourage a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Is adaptable, proactive, and able to work across different year groups.
  • Has experience working with young people (such as in schools, tutoring, mentoring, or youth work), although full training will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
