Job description

Head of Physics – Secondary School – Hyde – Full-Time

Teaching Personnel are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Physics to join a successful and forward-thinking Science department at a reputable secondary school in Hyde. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity for a current Physics teacher with leadership experience or an ambitious specialist ready to take the next step in their career.

Start Date: September 2025
Location: Hyde, Greater Manchester
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Paid in line with your scale + TLR (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Physics curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and (if applicable) 5

  • Support, mentor, and inspire members of the Physics teaching team

  • Monitor and improve student progress and attainment in Physics

  • Work collaboratively within the Science faculty to ensure consistency and innovation

  • Plan and deliver outstanding lessons that engage and challenge all learners

  • Promote a passion for Physics and contribute to extracurricular science opportunities

  • Uphold and drive the school's values and expectations across the department

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be a qualified teacher with QTS and a specialism in Physics

  • Have experience teaching Physics across multiple key stages

  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills

  • Have a track record of raising student achievement

  • Be committed to continuous professional development

  • Be passionate about Physics and science education
