Job description

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for supporting students in education? Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of young learners, especially those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to work across various SEMH and SEN settings in the Blackburn area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to gain valuable experience in education, with a specific focus on supporting students who require additional support in their learning journey.

Job Details:

  • Position: General Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Blackburn Area (Various SEMH and SEN settings)
  • Salary: £12.90 per week, £13.75 per hour
  • Working Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
  • Start Date: Immediate start available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH and SEN needs
  • Assist the classroom teacher in the delivery of lessons and educational activities
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support students with behaviour management and social-emotional development
  • Encourage engagement and progress through tailored interventions
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals

What We Are Looking For:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in education or a related field (e.g. psychology, special educational needs)
  • A strong interest in working with children and young people, particularly those with SEMH and SEN
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive approach to supporting students
  • Previous experience in an educational setting is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
