Job description

We are working with a supportive Secondary School in the heart of Rochdale seeking a full-time Cover Supervisor to join them in a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise students in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring they remain on task with the pre-set work.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies.
  • Support students with their learning where appropriate.
  • Deliver lessons across a range of subjects, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Liaise with teaching staff and school leadership to provide feedback on students’ progress and behaviour.
  • Assist with other duties, such as break-time supervision or administrative tasks, as required.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting (e.g., as a teaching assistant, youth worker, or tutor).
  • Be confident in managing classroom behaviour and engaging students.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Be flexible, well-organized, and capable of adapting to different subject areas.
  • Hold a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., degree) or experience in a similar role is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
