Behaviour Mentor – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position starting in January and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role is £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional support to engage with their learning and maintain positive behaviours in and out of the classroom. You will play a key role in promoting a safe and inclusive school environment, helping students to overcome barriers to learning and develop their social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Support: Work with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to address behavioural challenges and develop coping strategies.
- Positive Behaviour Management: Promote a respectful and supportive school environment by encouraging positive behaviours and managing incidents of challenging behaviour.
- Mentoring and Guidance: Build strong, trusting relationships with students to provide emotional support and act as a role model for positive attitudes and behaviours.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and other professionals to create and implement effective behaviour support plans.
- Monitoring Progress: Track and document students’ behavioural and emotional development, sharing insights with staff to inform interventions and strategies.
- Restorative Practices: Facilitate restorative conversations to help resolve conflicts and encourage accountability.
- Classroom Assistance: Support students in lessons, ensuring they remain engaged and are able to access the curriculum.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience: Previous experience working with young people in a school, youth work, or similar setting is highly desirable.
- Resilience and Empathy: A calm, understanding, and patient approach to supporting students who may display challenging behaviours.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Adaptability: Able to work in a fast-paced environment and tailor your approach to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Commitment to Inclusion: A passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning and succeed both academically and personally.
- Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with staff and contribute to the school’s inclusive ethos.
