Year 6 1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support (Formby Area)

An inclusive and supportive primary school in Formby is looking to appoint a caring and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs from June 2025. This role is to cover maternity leave and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact during a crucial stage in the pupil’s primary education.

The school has a nurturing ethos and a team dedicated to supporting individual pupil needs, making it a rewarding environment for the right candidate.

Role Highlights:

  • 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with SEMH

  • Focused intervention and emotional regulation strategies

  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external agencies

  • Full-time position within a welcoming and collaborative school

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or similar additional needs

  • A calm, empathetic, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication skills and emotional resilience

  • A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting children

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA or someone with a background in youth work, mentoring, or behaviour support who is looking to step into a school-based role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
