Job description

Student Support Worker

Are you a compassionate and committed individual with experience working with children? Are you ready to take the next step in your career and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people? If so, we want to hear from you! Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a school in Stoke-on-Trent that is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join their team as Teaching Assistants in their dynamic and thriving school.

Location: ST11
Start Date: January 2025
Role: Teaching Assistant (3-5 days per week, flexible)
Hours: 8:15 am – 3:30 pm

About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students who need extra help in the classroom. Your responsibilities will include assisting teachers with lesson delivery, providing one-on-one support, and helping students build the skills they need to succeed academically and socially.

While your primary focus will be on supporting SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) students, you may also be called upon to provide general classroom cover during staff absences.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children in any capacity—whether professionally (e.g., as a support worker, teaching assistant, or youth worker) or personally (e.g., caregiving, volunteering, or family support).
  • A background or interest in working with children with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or challenging behaviors is a bonus but not essential.
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient demeanor with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed and thrive.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible working hours: Full-time or part-time roles (3-5 days per week) to fit your availability.
  • Training and professional development: Opportunities to enhance your skills in SEND and educational support.
  • Supportive school environment: Join a welcoming team dedicated to positively impacting students’ lives.
  • Career progression: This role is ideal for individuals looking to transition from a support worker background or gain more experience in education.

If you’re passionate about supporting young people with SEND and want to contribute to a school community that values your efforts, we’d love to hear from you. Make a real difference and help our students reach their full potential!
